How We Began

Faith In The Brooke originated when the Mlot Family relocated to Bangalore, India, for Susan's expatriate assignment. During their time abroad, Savannah, Susan's 14-year-old daughter, participated in a week-long school curriculum visit to Vellaturu Orphanage, situated outside Vijayawada, India. This orphanage, overseen by Pastor Ratnam and his wife Suneetha, left a lasting impact on Savannah. Upon returning to the United States, Savannah, with the support of her father Jeffrey and their local church, initiated multiple visits to Vellaturu Orphanage, eventually leading to the proposal to start a sister orphanage.

Pastor Ratnam's brother, Ramesh, and his wife Mary, who had dedicated their lives to Vellaturu Orphanage, inherited a property from their frail father and established an orphanage.

Recognizing Savannah's dedication to the nonprofit sector, the Mlot Family was invited to join this noble venture. After careful consideration and prayer, the Mlot Family collaborated with Ramesh and Mary to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in India. In 2017, Faith in The Brooke was founded, initially accommodating twenty children rescued from enslavement. Over time, the organization expanded, now providing a home for thirty-six children through the addition of a new building. Faith in The Brooke actively supports both Vellaturu and Brooke Campus, embodying its commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

Our Locations

Faith In The Brooke, the nonprofit initiated by the Mlot family, operates from The Brooke campus, serving as the residence for thirty-six children. At this location, we provide housing, education, nurturing, meals, and overall support for these children.

Savannah's initial visit was to the original orphanage at the Vellaturu Campus. Faith In The Brooke extends support through child sponsorships at Vellaturu. Additionally, the campus houses a private school catering to students from kindergarten to 7th grade.

Who We Serve

The main factor behind most children residing at the Brooke campus is the burden of debt on their parents. Debt servitude involves individuals working to settle their obligations, typically in harsh job conditions. Perpetrators often resort to violence and harassment to compel individuals to work for minimal or no remuneration. The lack of transparency about debt repayment further exacerbates the situation, leaving parents with little choice but to involve their children. Consequently, these children find themselves ensnared in a cycle of labor. Parents, seeking a brighter future, willingly send their children to Faith In The Brooke.
In India, over twenty million children endure abandonment due to parental death or extreme poverty, leaving parents with seemingly no alternative. Our commitment is to rescue these children from the streets, offering them a home, education, love, and nourishing meals.
We extend our assistance to various vulnerable groups of children seeking nutritional food, a caring home, and education. For children in villages without local schools, parents entrust them to us for access to educational opportunities. Additionally, we support children from families facing financial or mental instability. Our primary objective for this group is eventual family reunification once circumstances have improved.
